Accessibility
The Nevada Medicaid Spending Tracker is committed to making public government data accessible to all people, including individuals with disabilities.
Our Commitment
This website displays public U.S. government data that belongs to every taxpayer. We believe access to this information is a right, not a privilege. We are committed to ensuring that everyone — regardless of ability — can use this site to understand where their tax dollars go.
We continuously work to improve the accessibility of this site and welcome feedback from our users.
Standards
This site targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standards published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines are the basis for accessibility requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Accessibility Features
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. A skip-to-content link appears on every page when you press Tab, allowing you to bypass the navigation menu.
Screen Reader Support
All pages use semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchy, ARIA landmarks, and descriptive labels. Data tables include scope attributes and accessible names. Live regions announce dynamic content updates.
Color and Contrast
Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text). Information is never conveyed by color alone.
Responsive Design
The site adapts to all screen sizes and orientations. Content is readable and functional at 200% zoom. Tables scroll horizontally on small screens without losing context.
Plain Language
Medical procedure codes are translated into plain English. Financial data is formatted with clear labels. Descriptions avoid jargon so that anyone can understand the information.
Reduced Motion
The site respects the prefers-reduced-motion media query. Users who prefer reduced motion will not see unnecessary animations or transitions.
Known Limitations
- Interactive charts (Chart.js) on the Reports, Counties, and Provider Detail pages provide visual data representations. The same data is available in accessible table format on each page.
- Some data tables contain many columns and may require horizontal scrolling on smaller screens.
- PDF documents linked from external government sources (such as the Nevada Medicaid Exclusion List) may not be fully accessible.
