Purpose of This Site

The Nevada Medicaid Spending Tracker is a public transparency tool that organizes, cross-references, and presents data from official U.S. government databases. Its purpose is to make public spending data more accessible and understandable to taxpayers, journalists, researchers, and oversight agencies.

This site does not generate original data. All information originates from publicly available federal and state government sources, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System, the Office of Inspector General, the Nevada Secretary of State, and the Federal Election Commission.

Not Accusations of Wrongdoing

Nothing on this site constitutes an accusation of fraud, abuse, or illegal activity against any individual or entity.

High Medicaid payments do not indicate fraud. A provider appearing on this site with large payment amounts may simply serve many patients, treat complex conditions, or operate in an expensive specialty. Similarly, appearing on analytical reports such as the E&M Upcoding Detection or Procedure Concentration reports does not mean a provider has done anything wrong. These reports identify statistical patterns that may warrant further review by qualified investigators — nothing more.

Campaign contributions by providers or their officers are legal political activity protected by the First Amendment. Displaying contribution data alongside Medicaid spending data is intended to provide transparency about potential conflicts of interest, not to imply wrongdoing.

Matching a provider's NPI against the OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE) indicates only that the NPI number appears in both databases. It does not necessarily mean the provider is currently excluded, billing improperly, or acting illegally. Reinstatement dates, name changes, and data entry errors can all produce matches that require further investigation to interpret.

AI-Assisted Analysis

This site uses automated data processing and AI-assisted analysis to organize, match, and cross-reference records across multiple government databases. These automated processes may produce errors, including incorrect matches between providers and business entities, misattributed campaign contributions, or inaccurate statistical classifications.

Confidence scores are displayed where applicable to indicate the reliability of automated matches. Users should independently verify any information before relying on it for decisions. See our Methodology page for details on how matching and analysis work.

Data Accuracy and Limitations

  • Data is sourced from official government databases and refreshed periodically. It may not reflect the most current information.
  • The HHS T-MSIS data used on this site is aggregated and does not include individual patient records or claim-level detail.
  • Provider names, specialties, and addresses come from the NPPES registry and may be outdated if providers have not updated their registrations.
  • Automated matching between databases (e.g., provider-to-corporation, officer-to-contributor) uses name and location matching that can produce both false positives and false negatives.
  • We make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy but cannot guarantee that all information is complete, current, or error-free.
